“How could I have been so blind? How could I not have noticed it?”
Ga-yoon is the third daughter of Yumi Jaibatsume. The girl, once composed and obedient to her parent’s wishes, shut down emotionally after witnessing the extent of her father Kenzou’s abuse of her sister, Mee-young; up to that point her life had been a façade, mirrors of a perfect family shattered as perspective set in upon the girl. She was unable to comprehend the act of standing up to her father’s actions and instead opted to remain in the dark, hating herself more by the day for her lack of interjection.
Witnessing such horrific events changed the girl - She shed her nonchalant, unstoppable attitude and desire for control and remained reserved to avoid receiving the same treatment as her latent sister. Witnessing the success and praise of her sister Jade, Ga-yoon grew jealous despite the early love she had held for her, resulting in the relentless mocking and teasing of her sister to make up for her own short-comings, Mocking and teasing would often escalate to petty acts of physical harm but despite her own ‘hatred’ for her sister, she would fiercely defend and protect Jade from others who wished her harm; Ga-yoon saw herself as the only individual who could put Jade in her shadow.
Upon hearing of her father’s death, Ga-yoon’s only response was purely loud laughter.
She sees herself overshadowed by her sister. Mee-young’s success and views her as the ideal example for her own actions today, though she would never outright admit it under any circumstance.
